The nature of a friend is contagious
عن أبي موسى رضي الله
عنه, عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "مثل الجليس الصالح والسوء, كحامل المسك
ونافخ الكير, فحامل المسك: إما أن يحذيك, وإما أن تبتاع منه, وإما أن تجد منه ريحا
طيبة, ونافخ الكير: إما أن يُحْرِقَ ثِيَابَكَ ، وَإِمَّا أَنْ تَجِدَ رِيحًا خَبِيثَةً "
"The parable of a good friend and a bad friend such as a
perfume seller and a blower to light a fire (blacksmith). As for the perfume
seller, maybe he will give you a gift, or you buy from him, or you get the
sweet scent from him. As for the blacksmith, maybe he will burn your clothes,
or you will get a bad smell. "(HR. Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim)
Rasulullah Saw., Explained that friends can exert a negative or
positive influence, according to their goodness or ugliness.
Rosul is like a good associate or sitting friend with perfume
seller.
When sitting with a perfume seller, we will find one of three cases
as mentioned in the hadith.
At the very least we find from him the sweet smell that will give effect
to our souls, body and clothes. While a bad friend is likened to sitting near a
blacksmith.
It could be that the sparks
flew up to burn the clothes, or at least we could smell the unpleasant odor
from it that would hit our bodies and clothes.
